Young girl shot in Chester

The girl was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

A young girl was injured in a shooting Thursday night in Chester, police said.

The shooting happened sometime before 9 p.m. on or near the 1500 block of West 9th Street, police said.

The girl, described as possibly 7 or 8, reportedly was taken first to Crozer-Chester Medical Center by private vehicle. Police said she was transferred to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

No other details were immediately available.
