A 28-year-old man was charged with murder in the beating death of a 70-year-old man whose body was found in a storage container inside a Frankford apartment last week, police said Thursday.

Michael L. Ciaccia was arrested Wednesday and also charged with false imprisonment, robbery, abuse of corpse, criminal conspiracy, and related offenses for the slaying of Robert Derer, who was found dead May 9 in a rowhouse in the 1600 block of Fillmore Street.

Last Friday, police arrested Andrew J. Ciaccia, 25, and Vanessa M. Pena, 21, and charged them with tampering with evidence, obstructing justice, abuse of a corpse, and criminal conspiracy.

Homicide Lt. Norman Davenport had said at a news conference last week that his detectives were questioning three people who lived in the second-floor apartment with Derer.

Family members had reported Derer missing on May 9 after not hearing from him for several days.

Police did not release details or a motive for the killing.
