A driver was killed early Saturday morning when the vehicle crashed into a tree on the 2900 block of Holme Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

According to the police account, the vehicle, the make and model of which were not disclosed, was traveling westbound on Holme when it went out of control and hit a tree on the north side of the street shortly after 3:30 a.m.

The driver sustained internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by medics, police said. The vehicle was towed to the Medical Examiner’s Office so the driver could be removed, police said.

No other information was available.
