Boy, 16, charged in Gloucester County fatal stabbing
Xavier Byrd, of Deptford Township, died Wednesday morning at Cooper University Hospital.
A 16-year-old boy was charged with first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old man this week in National Park, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday.
The Woodbury juvenile, who was not named, is accused of stabbing Xavier Byrd, of Deptford Township, Tuesday night at the National Park Laundromat at 825 Columbia Blvd. in National Park. Byrd died Wednesday at Cooper University Hospital.
The juvenile also was charged with third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and fourth-degree possession of a weapon. He was being held at Lakeland Juvenile Detention Center.
