Lil Wayne’s ‘Welcome to Tha Carter’ tour is coming to Fishtown

The New Orleans rapper is bringing his 'Tha Carter' brand to the Fillmore Philadelphia.

Lil Wayne is playing the Fillmore Philadelphia this spring.

The New Orleans rapper is kicking off his Welcome To Tha Carter tour on April 4 in Minneapolis. He will bring the show, which is presented by Young Money and Rolling Loud, to the Fishtown venue on April 17.

Wayne has released a series of projects named Tha Carter over the course of his quarter century career, starting with his fourth album, Tha Carter in 2004. The following year, he took a leap forward with Tha Carter II, and has since followed it with subsequent Tha Carter’s in 2006, 2011, and 2018.

He is said to be be working on the latest version, Tha Carter VI, as well as the third volume in another of his album series, I Am Not A Human Being III.

Wayne is nominated for three Grammys in connection to his guest verse on DJ Khaled’s “God Did,” which also features Jay Z, Rick Ross and John Legend. A performance of the song on the Grammy telecast on Sunday on CBS is rumored, but has not been offcially announced.

The hip-hop mogul whose given name is Dwane Michael Carter will receive a Global Impact Award by the Black Music Collective in a pre-Grammy event in Los Angeles this week. Dr. Dre, Missy Elliot, and music executive Sylvia Rhone will also be honored.
