Man, 30, fatally shot inside Strawberry Mansion barbershop
The shooting occurred at the corner of Norris and 29th Streets.
A 30-year-old man was fatally shot inside a barbershop in the city’s Strawberry Mansion section Friday night.
The man had just gotten a haircut around 7:30 p.m. and was standing on the front steps of the shop at Norris and 29th Streets when an unknown assailant approached him and started firing, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.
The victim retreated into the shop and was pursued by the gunman who continued shooting at least 18 times total, Small said.
Police responding to scene transported the man to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:51 p.m. The victim had been shot multiple times throughout his body.
A 31-year-old man who was getting a haircut when the shooting started was taken by police to Temple to be treated for a possible graze wound to his head.
The only other person in the shop was the barber and he was not injured, Small said.
Homicide detectives were checking numerous surveillance cameras for video of the attack and the gunman who fled in an unknown direction.
