Compressed drama for N.J. Senate seat
WASHINGTON - The long slog to New Jersey's U.S. Senate election has suddenly become a sprint. This time last week, the primary was still a year away. Now, after Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg's death and Gov. Christie's call for a special election, primary day arrives in less than 10 weeks. The general election that was 17 months away will be here before Halloween.
