New Life and Limbs at Shriners

Three Haitian girls - each missing a limb because of Haiti's earthquake - arrived at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia to be evaluated for prostheses. The medical relief effort is a collaboration among Haitian musician Wyclef Jean's charitable Yele Foundation; the Global Medical Relief Fund; and Shriners, a network of 22 pediatric hospitals that treat eligible children free of charge.

Prosthetist Jennifer Stieber assured Sarah that there are many shades of skin tone for her new leg. The cost of a basic prosthetic limb fabricated by Shriners can be as high as $6,000.
