Three people were killed Saturday in a two-vehicle accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Chester County, a state police spokesperson said.

The crash occurred shortly after 11 a.m. in the eastbound lanes in Tredyffrin Township and involved two passenger vehicles, police said.

The highway was shut down for several hours from the crash site at mile marker 321.4, near Yellow Springs Road, to the Downingtown Interchange, police said. It has since been reopened.
