Pa. State Police helicopter in midair crash with small plane west of Harrisburg
A state police Bell 407 helicopter collided midair with a Cessna 150 airplane near Carlisle, Pa., around 7:50 p.m., the FAA said.

A Pennsylvania State Police helicopter was involved in a midair collision with a small plane Wednesday night west of Harrisburg, officials said.
The Cumberland County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene, local TV stations reported.
CBS21 posted photos on social media showing the crash scene and the helicopter lying on its side at the Carlisle Airport, about 20 miles west of Harrisburg.
The Federal Aviation Administration reported that a the state police Bell 407 helicopter collided midair with a Cessna 150 airplane near Carlisle, Pa., around 7:50 p.m.
Two people were on the helicopter, the FAA said. It was not immediately known how many people were on the Cessna.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation.
Gov. Josh Shapiro posted on social media that he had been briefed on the crash “and I am heading there now,” he said.
“Lori and I are praying hard and we ask all of our fellow Pennsylvanians to join us,” Shapiro said.
The governor’s office later said that Shapiro will speak about the collision at a news conference at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
