Man killed in East Germantown shooting
The shooting was possibly domestic-related involving a 38-year-old woman who is a relative of the man's former girlfriend, police said.
A 20-year-old man was fatally shot during a possible domestic-related confrontation Monday evening in the city’s East Germantown section, police said.
About 5:50 p.m., police were called to the 100 block of East Walnut Lane and found the unresponsive man in the street with gunshot wounds to his chest and groin, said Chief Inspector Scott Small. Police took the man to Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:24.
A 38-year-old woman who allegedly fired the shots remained at the scene and was cooperating with police, Small said. Police recovered a semiautomatic handgun and found four spent shell casings on the front porch of the woman’s residence.
Witnesses told police that the man’s 21-year-old former girlfriend lives at the residence with the older woman, who is a relative, Small said.
The man allegedly came to the residence and started kicking the front door. The older woman came outside and there was a verbal altercation that possibly turned physical before the woman allegedly started shooting, Small said.
The man ran from the porch and collapsed in the street, Small said.
The victim’s name was not released.
