A 4-year-old boy is in stable condition after falling from a third-story window in North Philly
Police said the child was playing on a windowsill near an open window when the window’s screen broke.
A 4-year-old boy fell from a third-story apartment window on Tuesday evening and is in stable condition.
Officers responded to a residence on the 2200 block of North Seventh Street in North Philadelphia following reports of a fall, police said.
Officers arrived to learn that a 4-year-old boy suffered injuries after having fallen from a third-story apartment window. He was transported to Temple University Hospital by his father before police could arrive, police told reporters on Tuesday night.
Police said the child was playing on a windowsill near an open window when the window’s screen broke.
“When he was playing around on the windowsill with an open window, it was screened in, but at some point the screen gave way and the child fell three stories down to the ground, to very hard concrete,” Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace told reporters.
After treatment at Temple University Hospital, the boy was later transported to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, where he was in stable condition as of Wednesday morning.
The scene was cordoned off Tuesday evening to allow for a preliminary investigation. The Special Victims Unit is handling the case.
