Several brush fires erupted Tuesday afternoon along a train-track area in North Philadelphia, prompting a four-alarm response from the Philadelphia Fire Department, authorities said.

The fires were reported along a track area near 10th and Venango Streets and reached four alarms shortly before 3:30 p.m.

No injuries were immediately reported.

About 3:15 p.m., police said firefighters had the fires contained to the track area, but some businesses nearby had been evacuated as a precaution.

The fires were declared under control at 3:53.

The cause was under investigation.

Before the fires were reported, a man was fatally struck by a southbound Broad Street Line train at the Hunting Park Station, which is located several blocks from where the fires occurred.

A SEPTA spokesperson said the death appears to be unrelated to the fires.

The fires were causing traffic disruptions.
