Two men pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to trafficking thousands of kilograms of illegal drugs in Camden, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said.

Ronnie Lopez, 45, of Pennsauken, and Nelson Salcedo, 41, of Camden, each pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Renee Marie Bumb in Camden to one count of conspiracy to distribute illegal narcotics.

Specifically, Lopez admitted to trafficking heroin, crack cocaine, cocaine, and fentanyl, and Salcedo admitted to trafficking heroin, crack cocaine, and cocaine.

The men are among 19 defendants charged in the case last year. Lopez was the highest-ranking member of the conspiracy, Carpenito said. Salcedo was a top-level manager.

One of the remaining defendants, Juan Figueroa, was separately charged in state court last year with the ambush shooting in Camden of two undercover detectives who had been conducting surveillance on the drug organization. The Camden County detectives survived the attack.
