A woman threw hot coffee on a SEPTA bus driver in North Philadelphia Thursday morning and fled on foot, officials said.

It was not immediately clear why the woman tossed the coffee at the driver.

The incident occurred about 7:40 a.m. a northbound No. 16 bus at North Broad and Wallace Streets, SEPTA said.

The driver was not injured, said SEPTA spokesperson Heather Redfern. Passengers were put on the next bus.

Police were looking for the woman, who was described as being in her 50s.
