A teenage boy was in critical condition Friday night after being shot in the face in the city’s Overbrook section, police said.

Shortly after 8 p.m., officers from the 19th Police District responded to numerous reports of a shooting at 54th and Jefferson Streets and found the teen on the sidewalk, bleeding heavily from the face, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Medics took the boy, who witnesses said was 15 years old, to Lankenau Medical Center.

Police found one spent shell casing inches away from where the boy shot, Small said. The shooter was described as a male on a bicycle who was last seen fleeing north on 54th.
