Inquirer readers on Elon Musk supporting Donald Trump, Project 2025, and a prayer for America.
Quid pro quo
I always thought the difference between the two political parties was that the Republicans favored big business and the Democrats favored middle-class folks like me. Elon Musk asking Pennsylvanians to cast their mail ballots for former President Donald Trump seems to verify that. According to a recent Wall Street Journal article, Musk is said to be the richest person in the world and was putting $45 million a month into the American PAC to favor the Republican Party. It makes one wonder, what does he expect in return?

Chilling preview
I want to thank The Inquirer Editorial Board for the in-depth dive into Project 2025. The recent devastation caused by two major hurricanes in two weeks makes the information about dismantling the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the privatization of the National Weather Service even more disturbing. Among other things, NOAA tracks major weather events and is the parent agency of NWS. It is a central source of information from which most forecasters, national networks, and private community weather companies get their data. As the editorial pointed out, Project 2025 is bigger than the former president, having been designed for the next GOP administration. Should Donald Trump win, then become incapacitated, the program would be carried out by his successor. It is a carefully detailed plan that touches every aspect of American life as we know it. The impacts of Project 2025 need to be understood.

Prayer for America
Yom Kippur is the Jewish High Holiday that we call the Day of Atonement, in which we fast and pray and ask forgiveness for sins. My prayers are always for the health and well-being of my family and friends, for peace on Earth, and for America. I pray that this wonderful, special country will continue to enjoy good health and prosperity, to maintain the freedoms we enjoy and sometimes take for granted, and to continue to strive for peace. I pray for these goals and dreams every year, but this year I am afraid.
I am afraid of what will happen to our country if Donald Trump becomes president again. He has said he wants to be a dictator. Believe him. He has said he will jail his opponents. Believe him. He has been found guilty of several felonies. You would not want him to coach your child’s Little League team, how could you want him to lead our nation? We are better than this. We must vote. Trump has said that if he loses, it will be the fault of the Jewish people. It was said as a threat. It is my prayer.
