New Center City Designer Boutique: Irina Sigal
Rittenhouse Square welcomed award winning women's designer, Irian Sigal to the neighborhood last week. This premier dressmaker infuses European style with Urban-savvy details to custom and re-worked designs.
Last Thursday, I was lucky enough to munch on delicious snacks and sip on wine to celebrate the newly opened boutique of Russian-born designer, Irina Sigal. This cozy new shop is located at 2038 Locust Street. If chic, sleek, and minimal is your style, this is the lady to see. Her thoughtful mix of structured wool and leather, coats and vests; as well as, draped dresses in jewel tones are custom fit for each patron. The stylish dressmaker herself crafts beautiful jewelry herself (ie...that uber-cool zipper necklaces below), European stone and jewel encrusted evening clutches. She is known for wielding her "magic" to re-craft materials that are considered unusable and has been given several "Best of Philly" awards for her collections and alteration expertise. Along with providing expert repairs, and redesigns for her clients, Irina Sigal also does the same services for your currently owned formal and casualwear. As a 20-something, every weekend is new wedding/"some-sort-of-celebration" and a skilled seamstress can revamp that old bridesmaid dress that's been sitting in your closet. This isn't her first rodeo in Philly, Irina Segal brought her knowledge and achievements from Russia to the formal gown scene out of her Elkins Park boutique. This location is still operated by the designer and she sells a selection of items at the renown Center City Boutique, Joan Shepp.
