Basketball: Shawnee beats Timber Creek in OT

By Phil Anastasia

Shawnee senior guard Josh Borrelli scored all eight of his team's points in overtime in a 47-44 victory over Timber Creek in an Olympic Patriot boys' basketball game Tuesday night.

Borrelli broke a 44-4 tie with a three-point play with 0:02.6 on the clock. He drove the lane and converted a layup while fouled after TC freshman Keith Washington was 2-for-3 from the line to tie the score at 44-44 with 0:20 on the clock.

Borrelli finished with 23 points but was just 2-for-8 from the foul line in regulation. He was 5-for-6 from the line in OT.

Tristan Polnitz added 13 for Shawnee (4-0, 1-0), the No. 6 team in The Inquirer Top 10 rankings.

Senior guard George Sapp scored 17 with 5 assists for TC (2-1, 1-1).

Sapp led a furious comeback from a 21-12 halftime deficit. But Sapp fouled out with 0:43 left in the regulation.

TC had a 33-28 lead with 4:43 left but Borrelli hit a pair of three-point jumpers and Polnitz was 4-for-4 from the line as Shawnee battled back.

"These guys made me proud," TC coach Rich Bolds said. "I'm not into moral victories but these guys really showed me something."
