LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Saint Joseph's senior pitcher Taryn Ashway has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-Northeast Region First Team, organization officials announced on Thursday.

The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2013 NFCA Division I All-American teams.

Just the second player in SJU history to be named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year, Ashway turned in one of the best seasons in team history, going 26-4 overall with a 1.88 ERA. Appearing in 41 games, the A-10 All-Conference First Team selection set a new Saint Joseph's single season record for wins and added three saves as she led the Atlantic 10 in victories and ERA.

Amassing 181 strikeouts to just 35 walks, she finished conference play with a 12-2 record and added two saves in helping the Hawks to a 17-5 A-10 record and the regular season title.

For her career, the four-year letterwinner ranker fifth all-time in program history for wins (48), fourth in strikeouts (435) and first in saves (10). She joins Janielle Hoffman (1996) and Christina Kowalski (1997) as the only SJU pitchers to ever earn All-Region First Team honors.
