Baseball: District 1 pairings

Central Bucks East, Neshaminy, Strath Haven, and Unionville were among the top seeds in the 24-team PIAA District 1 Class AAAA baseball tournament. Seedings were announced Thursday.

The top four seeds in the North (No. 1 C.B. East, No. 2 Neshaminy, No. 3 Methacton, No. 4 Perkiomen Valley) and South (No. 1 Strath Haven, No. 2 Unionville, No. 3 West Chester Henderson, and No. 4 Coatesville) received opening-round byes.

Games prior to the semifinal round will be played at the site of the higher seed. The top four finishers will advance to the state tournament. Central Bucks South, the North's No. 5 seed, is the defending champion.

In the Class AAA tourney, Holy Ghost Prep, of the Bicentennial Athletic League, is the No. 1 seed in a nine-team field. The two finalists will qualify for states.

In Class AA, No. 3 seed New Hope-Solebury will take on No. 2 Springfield (Montco) on May 22. The winner of that game will play No. 1 Bristol for top district honors on May 24 at Temple-Ambler.

Finally, in Class A, Devon Prep heads an eight-team field. The two finalists will move on to states.
