Baseball: Lubanski steps down at SCH

Chris Lubanski has stepped down as Springside Chestnut Hill Academy's baseball coach after one season.

Lubanski guided the Blue Devils to a 6-4 mark and third-place showing in the Inter-Academic League.

SCH advanced to the semifinal round of the Pennslvania Independent Schools tournament last month.

After starring at Kennedy-Kenrick High, Lubanski was chosen fifth in the first round of the 2003 amateur draft by the Kansas City Royals. In 2011, after eight years of playing in the minor leagues, he hung up his spikes.

The Schwenksville native is an associate scout for the Phillies and an independent instructor. He is taking classes at Villanova.
