Mike Frederick, who was a defensive end in the NFL for five seasons, is the new head football coach at Neshaminy.
After starring at Neshaminy (Class of 1990) and Virginia, Frederick, 41, played for the Cleveland Browns (1995), Baltimore Ravens (1996 to 1998), and Tennessee Titans (1999). He was drafted in the third round, with the 96th overall pick, in the 1995 draft.
"This is my dream job," Frederick said of returning to Heartbreak Ridge. "When this opportunity came up, it was something I had to pursue."
It is Frederick's first head-coaching at the high school level. He was an assistant coach for one year in the early 2000s at Baltimore's Gilman School.
"Mike didn't come in during the interview process and talk about wins and losses," Neshaminy athletic director Tom Magdelinskas said. "He talked about teaching kids though football. That was impressive."
