By Phil Anastasia

Bishop Eustace Prep senior all-purpose player Vinny Papale has committed to the University of Delaware on a football scholarship.

Papale made an official visit earlier this month and made the decision to play for the Blue Hens on Friday.

"I loved it down there," Papale said. "They treated me great. They made me feel really special when I was down there."

Papale was a standout receiver and defensive back for the Crusaders. He also was a kick returner and punter.

Papale was he was recruited as a receiver by Delaware, which plays in the Colonial Athletic Association with Villanova among other programs.

Papale missed a few games this season with a broken collarbone. He returned to serve as a punter in the Thanksgiving Day game vs. Pennsauken.

Papale, the son of former Eagles walk-on Vince Papale, said he has been cleared to play in the Blue-Grey all star game in Tampa as well for the U-19 USA team in the International Bowl vs. Team Canada.

Papale said it was "a relief" to settle his college choice.

"I was getting a little worried after I got hurt," Papale said. "I'm really excited about the opportunity."
