Football: RV's Bradley to "gray shirt" at Temple
By Phil Anastasia
Shaun Bradley will start his college football career a little later than many other top athletes.
But the Rancocas Valley senior isn't complaining after committing to attend Temple University on a football scholarship.
Bradley will "gray shirt," which means he will enroll at Temple in January and likely start his career in 2016.
"It's a great feeling," Bradley said. "It's a big relief."
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Bradley led Rancocas Valley to a 9-3 record and the South Jersey Group 5 title game as a running back.
It was just the second sectional final appearance in the history of the program.
Bradley said he had one scholarship offer, from Wagner University.
But he said Temple officials contacted him about three weeks ago, invited him for a visit and offered him a scholarship during his trip to the Temple campus this past weekend.
"They said they saw my tape and loved my tape," Bradley said.
Bradley was recruited as a free safety. He said Temple officials told him that they didn't have a scholarship for him at this time but would have one for in January.
Bradley, who is a top basketball player for the Red Devils, plans to take a few courses at Burlington County College in the fall. He said he will be able to attend Temple practices and meetings but won't be able to participate in drills.
He plans to work out on his own to prepare for his college career. He should be joining the Owls in plenty of time for spring practice in 2016.
"It's very exciting," Bradley said. "I didn't have a whole lot happening, just Wagner and then Temple came along. It's a great opportunity. I can't wait."
