Saint Joseph's Ashley Alden Named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Leading the Saint Joseph's softball team to a 7-2 record on the week while driving in 15 runs, senior first baseman Ashley Alden has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week conference officials announced on Tuesday.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Leading the Saint Joseph's softball team to a 7-2 record on the week while driving in 15 runs, senior first baseman Ashley Alden has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week conference officials announced on Tuesday.

Batting .323 over nine games, Alden finished the week with a team-high 15 RBIs and added 10 hits, including four home runs, to go with six runs scored. After driving in a pair versus Hampton and Fairfield, Alden finished 4-for-7 with five RBIs and three runs scored against Niagara and South Dakota. Finishing the week with a .839 slugging percentage, Alden added three home runs and five RBIs in the final five games of the week to help the Hawks improved to 13-6 on the season.

This is the second time Alden has been named A-10 Player of the Week as she was previously selected the conference honoree on March 3.

Alden and the Hawks (13-6) return to action this weekend as they open up Atlantic 10 play with a three-game series versus Rhode Island. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon, with a single game set for a noon start on Sunday.
