Basketball: Camden vs. AC at 2016 CHE Invitational

By Phil Anastasia

Inquirer Staff Writer

Traditional powers Camden and Atlantic City will renew an old rivalry in the feature game of the 14th annual Cherry Hill East Invitational boys' basketball showcase on Feb. 13-14, 2016.

The two-day, 13-game event will include many of the top basketball programs in South Jersey.

Other projected highlights will include a clash between St. Augustine Prep and Winslow Township in the finale of the first day of competition.

St. Augustine is projected to return several key players from the team that finished second in The Inquirer Top 10 this past season, including first-team All-South Jersey junior guard Sa'eed Nelson.

Winslow Township is projected to return several starters from the team that won the South Jersey Group 3 title, including standout junior guard Mike Cubbage.

Camden is expected to return three starters from a team that won the South Jersey Group 2 title and finished No. 5 in the rankings, including juniors Jamal Holloway, a first-team All-South Jersey selection, and Brad Hawkins, a second-team choice.

Atlantic City could be the No. 1 team in the preseason rankings. The Vikings project to return most of the roster from the squad that finished No. 6 in the rankings, including standout juniors Lamar Thomas and Leon Daniels.
