MERION STATION, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team dropped a tightly-fought 4-3 match to Atlantic 10 rival Fordham Wednesday afternoon at the SJU Tennis Complex.

The Hawks opened the match in strong form taking the doubles point with wins at all three flights. Alex Zachem and Aurora Davis teamed for an 8-7 (7-5) win at the first flight, while Maureen Devlin and Claire Minnoe were 8-0 winners at the second flight. Kristina Eisenbrand and Lauren Roy capped the doubles sweep with an 8-4 victory at the third flight for the Hawks.

Switching to singles play, Davis earned SJU's second point with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, while Arianne Polatnick posted a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles for the third point.

Saint Jospeh's would force two other singles matches to decisive third sets, but the visiting Rams would earn wins in the other four matches to pull out the win.
