Council Rock North's Brandon McIlwain, a dual-threat quarterback and defensive back, has been selected as Gatorade football player of the year for Pennsylvania.

McIlwain completed 147 of 252 passes for 1,720 yards and 17 touchdowns while leading the Indians to a 7-4 record and a berth and the Suburban One League Continental Conference championsip.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder senior, who has committed to play at South Carolina, also carried 227 times for 1,545 yards and 30 TDs.
As a defensive back, McIlwain recorded 62 tackles and two interceptions, returning one for a score.
McIlwain, also a standout outfielder in baseball, has recently been visited by scouts from several major-league squads.
