C.B. West mourns loss of ninth-grade football player

Central Bucks West freshman football player Steven Kim died after being struck by a car while longboarding Saturday night in Doylestown.

Kim, 14, was a quarterback for C.B. West's freshman squad in the fall. His father, also named Steven, coached football at Lenape Middle School, where his son was a student. (To align with most other schools, Lenape's ninth-graders play football for C.B. West).

Kim was recognized by Central Bucks West's varsity players at the team's season-ending banquet on Sunday.

"The whole program is in mourning right now," C.B. West head football coach Chas Cathers said. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Kim family. We're going to do whatever we can as a team to help them get through this."

One of Kim's sisters, Natalie, is a junior at C.B. West. She was a football manager last season.
