It's bad ... but 2016 is not 1968

No, 2016 is not as bad as 1968...but does it really matter?

There are some things that Americans actually can agree upon. Whatever your political perspective, most folks would probably say the 2016 has been the worst year in recent memory, and it's barely half over. The nation is still reeling from last week's news -- the senseless sniper attack that killed five Dallas police officers, and the videotaped police shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. This in a year marked by the ugliest presidential campaign in many cycles -- both likely nominees with sky-high unpopular ratings, one under fire for her ethical lapses and the other blatantly appealing to America's worst instincts. Throw in mass killings such as Orlando, terror attacks overseas, even the deaths of beloved cultural icons like Prince or David Bowie, and you can understand why some pundits would look back in time for the last time things were so bad.
