A Big First Step

Duke's Jahlil Okafor, drafted No. 3 with the Sixers Thursday, last season was the first freshman named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year.

We were able to find 15 freshmen that have won that award in any conference. (See list below.) Conference record-keeping can be an inexact science, so if there is someone you think should be on here, send an email to BoopStats@phillynews.com. Remember, freshman have only been eligble since the early 1970s and there weren't nearly as many conference around then as today.
