The Jersey Shore a new hotbed for higher learning?

Stockton University will offer 23 summer courses at its new Atlantic City site. Rutgers announced new shore-based courses earlier this week.

Seems the Jersey Shore has become a new hotbed for higher learning.

Stockton University on Wednesday announced that it will offer 23 summer courses — more than ever before — at its new Island Campus on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, starting July 1.

Earlier this week, Rutgers said it would begin running summer courses for the first time at several shore cities, including Atlantic City.

Stockton officials said they will offer a variety of courses including: Introduction to the Health Sciences, Ecology and Saltwater Fishing, Exploring the Deep Sea, Marketing Principles, Introduction to Macroeconomics, Mapping Hispanic Cultures, Introduction to Public Policy, Project Management Approach to Educational Change, Introduction to Screenwriting, and A History of TV Cooking Shows.

Stockton already had a smaller Atlantic City campus where summer programs were offered in the past. But the new summer program will help the university kick off the use of its new 1.73 million-square-foot facility, formerly home to the Showboat Casino. Stockton's main campus is in Galloway Township.
