"Light the Night Walk' to shine

Carrying illuminated balloons, more than 2,000 participants are expected for Saturday's "Light the Night Walk," a fund-raiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Carrying illuminated balloons, more than 2,000 participants are expected in Chester County for Saturday's "Light the Night Walk," a fund-raiser for the eastern Pennsylvania chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The two-mile leisurely walk will start at Wilson Farm Park in Chesterbrook in Tredyffrin Township. White balloons will signify cancer survivors and patients; red ones will identify supporters, and gold ones will pay tribute to those who have died.

Funds raised will support the society's mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, as well as improve the quality of life for patients and their families.  "Light the Night Walk gives hope to patients and their families and lets them know that they are not alone in their battle against cancer," said Executive Director Maida A. Milone. "It's a night to pay tribute to lives touched by cancer, honor those we have lost, and celebrate the lives that have been saved."
