Art venture blends Chester City, County

Aiming to combat a dismal economy, a new artists' venture in Chester — "Art on the Avenue of the States" — has proven that the local art community is flourishing. The group's fall art show, organized by a group that includes artists from Chester County, brought patrons in touch with a range of artists, a success the group wants to continue.

Knowing that a framed painting and photograph is a welcome and personal holiday gift, the artists will host a two-day exhibit and sale Dec. 16 and 17 at the "Raw Space" at 504 Avenue of the States, in downtown Chester. The venue is a short drive from Interstate 95, with plenty of nearby free parking.

The show will open with a special Patron Party from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday. A $5 donation is requested for a chance to meet the artists, enjoy holiday refreshments and live music, and have the first opportunity to buy original art from 20 established artists from the region.
