Wild, wooly weekend offerings in Chester County

Multiple opportunities exist this weekend to support one of Chester County's most endearing assets: its animals.

This weekend it's easier than ever to celebrate one of Chester County's most endearing assets: its animals.

If you didn't buy tickets for the Chester County SPCA Forget-Me-Not gala, there are other ways to support the nonprofit agency as it struggles to raise funds for a much-needed expansion of its West Goshen facilities. Visit http://www.ccspca.org/.

Fund-raisings efforts also continue for the victims of the May 31 fire that killed six and injured five Olympic-calibre showhorses in West Marlborough Township. Visit  http://eventingnation.com/ or http://boydandsilvamartin.blogspot.com/.

Finally, the Brandywine River Museum is opening "Farm Work by Jamie Wyeth," an exhibition that showcases five decades of Wyeth''s signature depictions of farm animals, equipment, buildings and landscapes.

"I always said that if born in New York, I would be painting cabs or something, but it happens that I was raised in an area where there were farms," Wyeth told museum officials. "There are wonderful objects on the farm and things about farm life, so that is where the attraction is."

The show, which opens tomorrow,  will run through Sept. 11. For more information, call 610-388-2700 or visits www.brandywinemuseum.org.
