At Arts Press Conference, Nutter Hails Eagles

During a press conference today to talk about the city's arts community and "creative economy," Mayor Nutter seemed a little more interested in the creativity that led to some recent sports victories.

In his remarks, Nutter praised the Philadelphia Eagles for their win yesterday, hailed Cliff Lee's return to the Phillies and touted the North Philly Blackhawks and Frankford Chargers, who recently won Pop Warner football titles.

"Let me talk about a little bit of artistic creativity that we saw yesterday," Nutter said, naming Michael Vick and other Eagles players. "That was poetry in motion yesterday."

The study released today details the strength of the city's creative sector. In 2008, 17,699 people were employed in arts-related jobs in Philadelphia. To learn more go to www.phila.gov/arts.
