Was Chris Matthews Senate Talk Tease For New MSNBC Deal?

Politico is reporting that Hardball host Chris Matthews is expected to sign a new deal with MSNBC, which would put an end to speculation that he was considering coming home to Pennsylvania to run as a Democrat against U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter in 2010. The question, if true: Did Matthews use the Senate talk to drive up his paycheck?
