Mayor Nutter Praises Flyers, Says No Bet Yet With Chicago Mayor

Mayor Nutter this morning praised the Philadelphia Flyers, who last night clinched a spot in the Stanley Cup finals where they will face the Chicago Blackhawks. He said he has not yet talked to Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley about a friendly wager.

"I'll be reaching out to his office later today," said Nutter, noting that he'd like the bet to have a community service focus, like his previous baseball wagers.

Nutter said the Flyers impressive turnaround to get to the cup was symbolic of Philly attitude.

"The Flyers are emblematic of Philadelphia," Nutter said. "We have a fighting spirit. They're very, very exciting. This comeback fighting spirit is good for us."

And Nutter said it was much too early to talk about a possible victory parade during the city's tough financial times.

"It's the kind of thing I'd love to have the challenge to figure out," Nutter said. "Let's not put the cart before the horse."
