Nutter Talks To Leaders in Harrisburg

Our man in Harrisburg, John Baer, just ran into Mayor Nutter in the halls of the state capitol. Baer reports that Nutter met with Senate Finance Committee Chairman Pat Browne (R-Lehigh County) and Republican Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi (Delaware County). They mostly spoke about pension issues.

Nutter wants to defer some payments into the city pension fund. The move requires state approval, as does the city's plan to temporarily raise the city sales tax to 8 cents on the dollar. The sales tax in the city is now 7 cents on the dollar, with 6 cents going to the state and 1 cent to the city.
