Opponents of a bill that would restrict event promoters' rights protested outside City Hall today.
Approximately 20 people held signs, played on guitars, sang and chanted to show their outrage over the proposal, sponsored by Councilman Bill Greenlee, which would require promoters to get every entertainment event approved 30 days ahead of time.
Earlier this week, Greenlee told the Daily News he was willing to make changes to the proposal after speaking with entertainers and promoters. But one protester said he had serious concerns about the bill in any format.
"He's he is willing to make changes, but that's not reflected in the current language of the bill," promoters' supporter and music enthusiast Steve Ross, 25, said. "Until we see that change, we're still opposing it, and we'll still oppose it even if it changes because the bill will still affect local venues."
