The Philadelphia Fire Department is set to get some big bucks from the feds.
Congressman Chaka Fattah announced yesterday that the Fire Department is the recipient of $18.4 million in federal grants from the Department of Homeland Security.
A majority of the grant --$16.3 million will go toward hiring more firefighters to allow for around the clock coverage.
Meanwhile. $2.1 million as part of the Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) Program will be used to help fund resources and other tools to aid in emergency response.
