Comcast CEO Roberts, other top pay-TV honchos duck Senate wrath on service
Comcast's Brian Roberts and other top highly paid CEOs in the cable- and satellite-TV industries won't have to a face a Senate grilling over woeful pay-TV customer service.
The Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, which has been investigating cable service and billing for more than a year, released its witness list for next Thursday's hearing on Capital Hill and and the ranking Comcast exec on it was senior VP of customer service Tom Karinshak.
Among others testifying: Time Warner Cable's John Keib, an executive vice president and chief operating officer, and Kathleen "Kip" Mayo, executive VP of customer operations at Charter Communications.
The Senate committee has subpoenaed documents from Comcast and other companies and spoken to industry insiders.Sen. Claire McCaskill, the ranking Democrat on the committee, has been a critic of the industry. The committee, which also has investigated human trafficking, is expected to release a report on the pay-TV industry. The public airing could lead to legislation or new regulations.
