Vintage: The next time someone tells you about Philadelphia fans...

This is what happened at the airport, after the great Phillies collapse of 1964. It kind of spoils the narrative.

The picture pretty much speaks for itself. It is Phils manager Gene Mauch, arriving with the team back at the airport, at the conclusion of the greatest collapse in Philadelphia sports history -- when the Phillies blew a 6 1/2-game lead with 12 games left to play and lost the 1964 National League pennant to the St. Louis Cardinals.
