End date set for ‘How I Met Your Mother’

The sitcom will say goodbye on March 31

It's been a long road for Ted, Barney, Lily, Robin and Marshall. A remarkable nine seasons of How I Met Your Mother. (about six more than anyone projected). Well, we can now see the finish line. CBS announced today that the sitcom will end with a special one-hour finale on March 31.

That means a total revamp of the network's Monday night lineup.

The finale of HIMYM will air just before the debut of Friends with Better Lives, a new ensemble comedy starring Kevin Connolly (Entourage), James Van Der Beek (Dawson's Creek) and the beauteous Brooklyn Decker.

Beginning April 14, the new CBS schedule will run four sitcoms – 2 Broke Girls, Friends with Better Lives, Mike & Molly and Mom – before Intelligence, the hour-long espionage drama starring Josh Holloway (Lost). Intelligence bows next month, on January 7.
