Rick Springfield: DUI Arrest at the Worst Possible Time
The ‘80s singer goes to the slammer on the eve of a big TV appearance.
Book 'em , Dano.
Former teen idol Rick Springfield was arrested in Los Angeles last night on charges of driving under the influence. Unfortunately the arrest came less than 24 hours before his heavily promoted appearance as a guest star on Hawaii Five-O (CBS3, 10 p.m.)
In tonight's episode, Springfield plays a famous photographer and legendary Lothario who is in Hawaii shooting a swimsuit issue for a sports magazine.
The Australian-born Springfield, 61, enjoyed renown in the '80s as a pop star (his hit "Jessie's Girl" – video below – was an early MTV staple) and acting heartthrob (the rakish Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital).
He has been largely MIA for the past few decades. The Hawaii Five-O role marked a high-profile comeback. Perhaps he was started celebrating too soon.
