Cops: Delco drunk arrested two days in a row

Ridley Park Police showed no tolerance for a man who apparently didn't know his own tolerance after he was arrested two days in a row stemming from incidents outside of seperate but neighboring bars in the borough last weekend.

Although he already had a few drinks in him, around 2:13 a.m. Jan. 7, Charles Clymer, 49, of Ridley Park, decided to head down to Maury's bar on Sellers Avenue near Dutton. When he found the establishment closed for the evening, he banged on the windows of the bar, police said. When staffers told him to leave, he started banging on the windows even louder and began yelling and cursing, Police Chief Tom Byrne said.

When he realized he wouldn't be getting in, Clymer went to a nearby 7-11, where he took food off of the shelves and began throwing it around the store, Byrne said.

He was arrested outside of the store and charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

The following day, around 6:30 p.m., Clymer allegedly beat up a 65-year-old man in the parking lot of Dolan's bar on Sellers Avenue near Dutton. After beating him, he kicked the man in the head while he was down, left him in the parking lot and returned to the bar to continue drinking, police said.

When officers arrived on scene and questioned Clymer about the incident, he told them he had no idea what they were talking about, Byrne said.

In that case, Clymer was charged with aggravated and simple assault, public drunkenness and related charges.

According to court records, Clymer has two prior arrests for public drunkenness and one for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
