Two men were wounded in a rain-drenched shooting in North Philadelphia tonight.
It happened about 11:30 p.m. on Cumberland Street near 11th, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
He provided the following account:
One man, 28, was shot four times in the back and leg and collapsed in a heap. He was standing next to another man, 27, who was shot once in the hip. That victim fled the scene, and ran into an apartment on the sixth floor of the Fairhill Apartments, nearby on 11th Street.
Police found him there and took him to Temple University Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
The other victim was taken to Hahnemann University Hosptial, where he remains in critical but stable condition. He's likely to survive, but will be paralyzed, a police source said.
Evidence at the scene indicates the men were shot at the same time with the same gun. No information was available on a motive or suspect, Small said.
