UPDATE: Cops ID man killed in West Oak lane

Police have identified the man killed last night in front of a West Oak Lane water-ice shop as Marquine Pickett, 19, of Carroll Park.

UPDATE: Police on Thursday said the investigation into this homicide has revealed that the shooting originated on Stenton Avenue near Gorgas Lane several blocks away. The victim ran from the original location of the shooting and collapsed near Stenton and Haines, according to police.

Police have identified the man killed last night in front of a West Oak Lane water-ice shop as Marquine Pickett, 19, of Carroll Park.

Police listed the motive as robbery but reported no suspects.

Pickett, of Master Street near 58th, was shot in the chest in front of the Rita's Water Ice on Stenton Avenue near Haines Street about 9:30 p.m., police said. He died shortly after at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Police were looking for a white Chevy Impala seen leaving the scene, Chief Inspector Scott Small said. Tipsters are urged to call homicide detectives at (215) 686-3334 or -3335.
