Cops searching for fast food robbery suspect
The Citizen’s Crime Commission is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading police to a man who robbed a Wendy's Tuesday night, and broke into a McDonald's Thursday morning.
Police are hoping surveillance footage and help from the public leads them to arresting a man who robbed a Germantown Wendy's at gunpoint Tuesday night, and broke into a McDonald's in East Germantown Thursday morning.
The Citizen's Crime Commission is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the man's arrest.
Just after 9 p.m. on Aug. 16, a man walked into a Wendy's on Wayne Avenue near Chelten Avenue, walked toward the restrooms and pulled a black ski cap over his head and face, police said.
The man walked up to the cash register, pointed a black handgun at an employee and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.
Police said the man was last seen running east from the restaurant on Maplewood Street.
Just before 3 a.m. Thursday, a man with the same description as the suspect in the earlier robbery broke through the drive-through window at a McDonald's on Stenton Avenue near Eastburn and climbed inside.
He walked toward a rear office, then walked back through the kitchen and left the restaurant through the drive-through window. Police said nothing was taken, and the gun-wielding man left the restaurant without saying anything to employees.
The suspect is a bald black man in his early 30s, between 5-feet-10 and 6 feet tall, police said. The man has a muscular build, tattoos on both arms and may have light facial hair.
When the man broke into the McDonald's, he was wearing blue jeans, tan work boots and a blue sweatsuit jacket with red and white stripes down the sleeves, and embroidered patches on the front.
